I wanted real control of color ramps in Blender materials. This file has my solution – groups for your materials that are totally controllable! These groups will allow inputs to every part of those pesky color ramps that you could never control. The best part – every section is fully animate-able!
You can see from the images below the 3 groups provided in the Blend file. Each preview shows a sample node setup with a typical color ramp, and each group set up to match the color ramp configuration. Download provided to the right.
Controllable Color Ramp.2 Ranges
This group is for 2 ranges.
Factor Input: The typical color ramp input.
Color 1: The first color (it can even be a texture!).
Range Point 1: This is for setting that slider position.
Color 2: The second color
Range Point 2: This is for setting the second slider position.

This group is for 3 ranges.
Factor Input: The typical color ramp input.
Color 1: The first color.
Range Point 1: This is for setting that slider position.
Color 2: The second color.
Range Point 2: This is for setting the second slider position.
Color 3: The third color.
Range Point 3: For setting slider 3.
